The delta coronavirus, better known as the “Indian strain”, can manifest itself in a gastrointestinal disorder. It is this symptom that many coronavirus patients have recently started complaining about. CASS with reference to pulmonologist Alexei Nikishenkov.
Alexey Nikishenkov noted that doctors usually do not know what strain they have in front of them, since in common practice a test for a subspecies of coronavirus is not carried out.
– I can note that recently, after the Delta strain began to spread, patients with coronavirus are increasingly complaining of gastrointestinal disorders – diarrhea, abdominal pain. This symptom was added to what there was before, namely, cough, weakness, myalgia (muscle pain), specifies the doctor.
At the same time, virologist Viktor Larichev is convinced that all the symptoms that appear with the Wuhan strain of the coronavirus remained relevant for the Indian strain. With all infectious diseases, the temperature rises first.
During the spring-summer period of 2021, eight isolates of the Indian strain of coronavirus were found in the Voronezh region. In total, health doctors studied more than 200 samples from people infected with COVID-19 in the region for viral mutations. In eight other materials, isolates of the Alpha variant (“British strain”) were noted.
The Delta strain was first discovered in India in October 2020. A variant of this strain is considered more contagious.
