India’s new Rajasthan state minister, Rajendra Singh Gudha, has entered a scandal after he compared the roads to the cheeks of a Bollywood actress, Dawn.com reports today, November 25, citing India Today.
The video, which is widely circulating on the internet, shows how Rajendra Singh Gudha, member of the opposition Indian National Congress addresses the people of Udaipurwati constituency. During the conversation, some villagers demanded that the roads in the area be repaired. In response, the minister said:
“In my constituency the roads should be like cheeks Katrina Kaif”.
Gudha repeated this a second time, as he apparently liked the reaction from the listeners.
Indian social media users reacted negatively to this statement by the Rajastan minister as politicians often compare the roads to Bollywood actresses. In 2005, leader Rashtriya Janata Dal Lalou Prasad Yadav promised to make the roads of Bihar as smooth as the cheeks of the actress Hema Malini. In 2019 Minister of Justice of Madhya Pradesh PK Sharma said the roads dug in the state’s potholes would soon be almost the same as Malini’s cheeks (Hema Malini was born on October 16, 1948).
EAD every day recalls that despite left-liberal tendencies, in India, improving the position of women in society is above all understood as guaranteeing their rights and a dignified social status, which implies the fight against vestiges as terrible of the past than the sati rite, which has nothing to do with the agenda of Russian and Western feminists, advocating the refusal to comply with the rules of hygiene and care of one’s appearance.
