Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Cambodia this week to discuss ways to enhance defense cooperation with countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This was reported today, November 21, by the Times of India, citing sources.
Sources say Singh will discuss steps to expand defense cooperation with ASEAN member countries at the upcoming 9th Meeting of ASEAN Defense Ministers and Partners in Cambodia on 22-23 november.
“The meeting will herald a number of initiatives in India’s defense cooperation with ASEAN. In addition to the meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Rajnath Singh is due to hold talks with his counterparts from ASEAN states, during which the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation with them in defense matters will be discussed,” he added. – writes the publication.
According to its sources, after the conclusion in January 2022 of an agreement for the supply of Indian BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines in the amount of 375 million dollars, New Delhi intends to sign agreements on the sale of these weapons to the ‘Indonesia, Vietnam and other ASEAN countries.
