Scientists have reported that the “delta plus” strain is indeed of great concern, as it is different from the previous one. “Delta Plus” spreads faster and affects lung cells more strongly. Experts have also suggested that the new strain is able to overcome the protection created by antibodies.
In this regard, authorities in a number of Indian cities have called for the strengthening of anti-COVID measures, increasing the volume of testing and vaccination. In addition, in these areas they plan to additionally examine people infected with the latest strain.
Since the beginning of June, a sharp increase in coronavirus infections has been recorded in Moscow. Its pace has already exceeded that of December. The capital’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said the incidence had increased due to the Indian strain, which affects 90% of sufferers.
According to experts from Rospotrebnadzor, young people who do not comply with preventive measures are responsible for the spread of the new strain.
