In India, a new variant of coronavirus XE has been discovered in a person who arrived from Mumbai. State officials have been informed.
“A man from (district) Santacruz in Mumbai tested positive for COVID-19 while visiting (town) Vadodara on March 12. According to the results announced yesterday, he was found to be infected with a new mutant variant of XE,” Vadodara medical worker Devesh Patel told a press conference, RIA Novosti reports. The XE coronavirus lineage is a combination of the omicron BA.1 and BA.2 variants.
Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the spread of a new strain of coronavirus XE. According to the first information, this option has become the most contagious among the previous ones. It is speculated that the strain may be 10% more infectious than “Omicron BA.2”, reports Vse42.ru.
