During a telephone conversation, the Russian President and the Indian Prime Minister discussed the practical issues of implementing the agreements reached during the Russian leader’s visit to India. Vladimir Putin thanked Narendra Modi for the hospitality extended to the Russian delegation in New Delhi on December 6. The parties expressed their mutual readiness for the further comprehensive development of relations of a particularly privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India. Furthermore, Messrs. Putin and Modi exchanged congratulations on the upcoming New Year holidays.
Recall that on December 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi signed a joint statement “Russia-India: partnership for peace, progress and prosperity” as part of a working visit to New Delhi. A package of documents was also signed. Vladimir Putin’s visit to India during the pandemic was the second foreign trip in 2021. He had previously flown only once from Moscow to attend a summit with US President Joe Biden in Geneva .
