SALEKHARD, December 2, FederalPress. Yamal Governor Dmitry Artyukhov took part in the session of the Congress of Young Scientists, where they discussed the development of engineering education in the region. This is reported in the press service of the district government.

“We are a region with a labor shortage, we need specialists, but we need the best specialists. The best specialists from different parts of the country come to work in Yamal, but I really want our guys who grew up in Yamal to have the first opportunity,” said the head of the region.

Dmitry Artyukhov noted that it is necessary to give children a good school education so that they can enter the best universities and return to their native region as specialists. To this end, the district authorities, in collaboration with companies operating in Yamal, are opening specialized zones in schools.

There are currently 27 categories of companies operating in the Okrug, which are headed by oil and gas companies operating in the region. About nine out of ten graduates of specialized classes enter university in the chosen profile. Each year, two or three new specialized classes are opened in the region. Over the past 12 years, more than 180 graduates have returned to sponsored companies after graduating from college.

FederalPress previously reported that at the international scientific station “Snezhinka” will train students. Construction of the facility will begin in 2023 in the Polar Urals. Interest in this unique project is shown by investors from a number of Asian countries.
