The military of Uzbekistan and India will hold joint exercises “Friendship-2022” in the Khorezm region. This was announced today, March 24, by the Sputnik Uzbekistan news agency with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A group of Indian servicemen arrived in Tashkent on March 22, the military department said.
The maneuvers should be carried out at the Yangiaryk military training ground of the North-Western Military District of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan.
According to the agency, the joint exercises in the Khorezm region for the military of Uzbekistan and India will be the third in recent years. In November 2019, Uzbek and Indian servicemen conducted the first joint special tactical maneuvers “Friendship” at a training ground in the Tashkent region. In March 2021, the exercises took place in the jungles of the Indian province of Raniknecht.
Meanwhile, in 2022, maneuvers will take place not only in Uzbekistan, but also in other Central Asian countries within the framework of the CSTO. Joint exercises will be held on the territory of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Former Commander of the Central Military District of the Russian Defense Ministry, Colonel General Alexander Rabbit said that the number of joint events of the Central Military District of Russia and Central Asian countries in 2022 will be increased. As noted, the most important will be the joint exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces “Indestructible Brotherhood-2022”.
