Expedition to India is a project aimed at rekindling the interest of the Russian Geographical Society in the study of this amazing country. The aim of the project is to create a promising scientific direction for the annual expeditions of the Russian Geographical Society to the Indian Himalayas, as well as to conduct ecological, biological, geographical, geological, soil and ethnographic studies. In addition, the expedition will research the crash sites of Allied military aircraft in 1943-1945 and shoot a documentary film. The project is intended to become a platform for the further development of activities of the Russian Geographical Society abroad.
– For the first time in a long time, the Russian Geographical Society is organizing such an expedition to the unique and hard-to-reach regions of India: the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland. An example for us is Andrei Evgenievich Snesarev, a military geographer, orientalist and full member of the Russian Geographical Society, who studied the territory between Russian Turkestan and India at the beginning of the 20th century. We have before us a very unusual scientific challenge to study this region, it is a unique opportunity for scientists — said Anton Yurmanov, director of the youth department of the Russian Geographical Society.
All the details concerning the organization of accommodation, meals and flights can be found on Russian Geographical Society Youth Club website.
