Planned for next year project of Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa dearMoon, during which eight people will leave with him for a six-day trip around the moon and back. This will be the first real tourist launch into deep space. All the members of the crew are representatives of the creative professions: a pop star, a photographer, a choreographer, a videographer, a documentary filmmaker… Maezawa pays for the flight with his own funds: according to rumors, he will cost $80 million. The Starship spacecraft with the creative team on board is to approach the surface of the moon at a distance of 200 kilometers and circle it for three days. The exact date of the flight has not yet been communicated. This is probably unknown even to Maezawa himself. Its crew will be among the first to embark on the Starship voyage, and mission dates will depend on the success of upcoming Starship tests. Previously, long-duration missions in deep space were reserved exclusively for astronauts, selected according to strict criteria, because such a trip involves extraordinary risks, both in terms of health and technology. The success or failure of DearMoon’s mission could make space tourism a trend or show that we are not ready for it yet.
